FSSAI license and registration for food businesses in Gujarat
Gujarat’s food processing sector spans agro and food processing units.
It spans snack manufacturers.
It spans dairy operations.
It spans a growing network of restaurants and cloud kitchens in Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, and Rajkot.
If your business manufactures, processes, stores, or distributes food products, FSSAI requires you to hold a valid registration or licence.
Which FSSAI registration does my food business need?
FSSAI categorises food businesses into three licence tiers based on turnover and activity type:
Basic Registration — For small-scale food businesses with annual turnover up to ₹12 lakh. This covers petty food manufacturers, transporters, and small retailers. Fee: ₹999 one-time.
State Licence — For medium-sized food businesses with turnover between ₹12 lakh and ₹20 crore. Restaurants, hotels, processors and distributors at this scale require the state-level licence. Fee: ₹1,499 one-time, renewable annually at ₹1,499/year.
Central Licence — For large manufacturers, importers and food businesses with turnover above ₹20 crore. Processed food importers and large-scale manufacturing units also require the central licence. Fee is based on turnover and product category. Contact FinTax24 for a quote.
